The Dodge story dates back to 1900, when brothers Horace and John founded a company to supply precision parts, including engines and chassis, to Detroit’s up-and-coming automakers. The brothers themselves joined those ranks in 1914 when they launched the first car to wear the Dodge name: The Model 30-35 touring car. Designed to be a step up from the Ford Model T — although it relied on the same kind of assembly-line process to keep prices down — early Dodge vehicles quickly developed a strong reputation for quality.

But their success came to an end almost as quickly as it started. John and Horace both died in 1920, leaving their company in turmoil for most of the rest of the decade. The turning point came in 1928 when the Chrysler Corporation purchased the Dodge business and turned it into a high-volume brand that was selling more than a million vehicles a year at its peak. Today, Dodge delivers a streamlined focus on performance with cars and SUVs that enthusiasts love!
